چکیده

There have been many theoretical and experimental investigations on polarization diversity reception characteristics at base stations. The diversity gain was evaluated based on the distribution of the instantaneous received power in these investigations. The mainstream mobile communication systems are shifting to standardized IMT-2000 systems and the W-CDMA system is one of them. The effect using base station polarization diversity in WCDMA must be evaluated by considering not only antenna diversity, but also RAKE reception / path diversity. Furthermore, Transmit Power Control (TPC) is applied to overcome the near-far problem of mobile units that maintain a fixed reception power level in W-CDMA systems. Therefore, traditional diversity gain cannot be used as an evaluation indicator. In this paper, we propose a theoretical analysis method for diversity gain using base station polarization diversity in W-CDMA. We also clarify the analytical results of practical diversity gain and verify the evaluation model used for theoretical analysis through a comparison with the experimental results.

Reverse link capacity and coverage improvement for CDMA cellular systems using polarization and spatial diversity

This paper explores the benefits of increased diversity order using spatially separated, polarized antennas at the base station receiver of a CDMA cellular system. Field tests are conducted in real mobile wireless environments. A conventional dual diversity receiver is compared with one that implements four-way diversity combining using spatially separated cross-polarized antennas. Several meas...

MAI Analysis of an Asynchronous MC-CDMA System With Polarization Diversity

The use of polarization antenna diversity techniques in mobile communications can improve system robustness against multipath fading. However, when used in asynchronous CDMA transmission, an increase in the carrier to noise ratio (CNR) does not automatically imply an increase in the received signal to noise ratio (SNR), due to the possibility of an increase in multiple access interference (MAI)...

On Polarization Transmit Diversity in CDMA Régimes

This paper considers transmit diversity schemes applied to cross-polarized linear antennas at cellular basestations, with a single linearly polarized antenna used by the mobile station receiver. The performance of SpaceTime Block Code (STBC) and Time-Delay Transmit Diversity (TDTD) is analyzed as a function of the relative orientation of the transmit and receive antennas. It is shown that power...

Performance Analysis of ZF Pre-Coder and Extended Joint Channel Estimation Method in Downlink CDMA with HPA

In the down link scenario of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, multi user detectors (MUDs) such as linear de-correlating detector (LDDs) provide satisfactory symbol error rates (SERs) at the expense of much increased complexity, they require all active users’ spreading sequences, which is impractical from privacy point of view. To overcome this impracticality, a simple matched filte...

Improving Capacity of soft Handoff Performance in Wireless Mobile Communication using Macro Diversity

The soft handoff is a process on transferring the on going call from one radio resource to another radio resource without any interruption. Rather, mobile unit looks next base station for possible new connection without breaking the old connection. This transfer of call takes place, when the mobile unit moves far away from old base station and approach toward new base station. At the far away d...
